Seattle, USA

After we visited David's parents in Comox, we headed to Seattle to visit our friends Jenny, Roberto and  their daughter Sabrina (our Goddaughter).  We were joined by our friends Veronica and Mandy for the weekend.  We visited some of the places we used to go to when we lived in Seattle like the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (Ballard Locks) and had a great meal at one of our favourite restaurants in Seattle, Palisade Restaurant.  It was a great weekend spent with close friends.

Comox, Canada

We spent a few relaxing days in Comox on Vancouver Island where we visited David's parents.  We were there at the same time as the Canadian Snowbirds and got to watch them practice.

Vancouver, Canada

In April we made our annual trip to Vancouver.  It was a short trip, but we got to spend quality time with our families and some of our close friends.

Mavis's 70th Birthday
We arrived in Vancouver a day before Sam's mom's 70th birthday.  To celebrate this special occasion, we threw her a small birthday dinner at a Chinese seafood restaurant and invited close family and some close friends.  We enjoyed a delicious ten course dinner that included lobster, scallops, shrimp, roasted squab and of course noodles for long life.   For dessert we enjoyed a variety of Chinese sweets and a pavlova birthday cake.  It was a great evening spent with family and friends and we are so happy we were there to celebrate Mavis's birthday.

Giles Family Reunion
During our first weekend in Vancouver we also met up with David's family.  David's parents came over from Comox, while two of his brothers and their families came from Vernon, Kamloops and Edmonton.  We all met up in Vancouver for a short reunion.  It was nice to see everyone and catch-up, especially since the last time the whole family was together was in 2011.  David's third brother and his wife who live in Halifax, were unfortunately not able to join us.  We enjoyed a delicious brunch at The Salmon House on the Hill (the restaurant where we celebrated David's 40th birthday), spent some time visiting Granville Island and also managed to get in a round of putt-putt.
