Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

We made our annual trip home to Vancouver and although we were very busy, we did manage to see some of our friends.

Dinner with Colleen, Beverly and Nicole
My school friend, Colleen, happened to be visiting from Australia at the same time we were there, so we met up one evening for dinner.  Joining us was Colleen cousin Beverley and her daughter Nicole.  It was a lovely evening seeing and catching up with all of them.

Dinner at Wildebeest
We had dinner with our close friends, Veronica, Cathy, Mandy and Elaine.  We went to one of Veronica's favourite restaurants in Vancouver called Wildebeest.  The menu at Wildebeest is centred around fresh and seasonal food, with an emphasis on the farm-to table approach.  On the evening that we went, we had the gastronomically daring menu, where the decision on what to eat is decided by the chef.  Although we didn't have a say in the menu, everything that we were served was delicious!

Seattle, Washington, USA

We drove down to Seattle for a short visit with our friends Jenny and Roberto, and their daughter Sabrina (our Goddaughter).  Our other friends, Cathy and Mandy also joined us for the weekend.  Jenny and Roberto prepared a lovely brunch for us and we had a good time seeing and catching up with them.

Sunday 13 March 2016

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

We flew to Las Vegas with our friend Veronica for a long weekend.  We had a fun weekend that involved lots of eating and enjoying some of the entertainment on offer.

Palazzo Hotel
We had a pleasant stay at the Palazzo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Las Vegas Strip at Night
The Strip is spectacular at night, especially as all the hotels are nicely lit up.

David Copperfield Show
On one of our nights in Las Vegas we went to see David Copperfield at the MGM Hotel.  It was a very entertaining show combining illusions, magic and imagination.

Downtown Las Vegas
We took a drive to the downtown core, which is the central business district and historic centre of Las Vegas.  It is also the original gambling area of Las Vegas prior to the Strip being developed.  There are still casinos in this area, albeit older and less glitzy ones than the ones on the Strip.

Le Rêve
On our second night we saw Le Rêve at the Wynn Hotel.  It was a spectacular show with a round aquatic stage, featuring state-of-the-art special effects, aquatic ballet and amazing stunts.
